Aims and hypothesis
Hypothesis 1. The smaller shopping areas will be used more frequently then the larger shopping areas . I predict this hypothesis to be true because it is easier to purchase items from smaller shopping areas because it is closer , sometimes it can be cheaper and family can "top-up" items , e.g. bread and milk. There is less range of items in the smaller shopping because there would be smaller shops, but that would also mean more brands of items
Hypothesis 2. There are more shops sending comparison goods in the CBD than in smaller shopping centres. I predict this hypothesis to be true because I think that the CBD is more accessible , because you will rarely find that someone would go Into a CBD and buy one item. However someone would in suburban parades. Also the bigger stores in the CBD , would need more money meaning they would have to sell more comparison goods to get more income.
Hypothesis 3. Layer regional chain storms tend to be found in the CBD where as smaller independent stores are likely to be found in the suburban shopping centres. I predict this to be true because , the independent stores are not as popular as the regional chain stores . This means that the store would not gain as much money as the chain stores . The independent stores would not be able to then pay the high amount of rent, everything. People are less likely to make their way into a CBD for an independent store.
Hypothesis 4. The CBD attracts people from greater distances , more than suburban, shopping centres. I predict this to be true because people would not travel from long distances to visit a few individual shops , of which they may have closer to home. However someone would travel a distance to be entertained all day , you could shop in the day , eat in a restaurant, go to the cinema and then go to a pub for the night time. hypothesis 5 There is more traffic in the CBD than there is in the suburban shopping centres. I predict this to be true because a lot more people will travel to
