Write a response for each of the following activities. Check the Evaluation section at the end of this document to make sure you have met the expected criteria for the assignment. When you have finished, submit your work to your teacher.

1. Choose a Career
In this activity, you will research career opportunities and job information on the Internet.

a. Before deciding on a career, it is beneficial to examine your likes and dislikes related to work, as well as evaluate your skills and abilities. Take this quiz to find out what types of careers are best suited to you. The information that you give about your interests and aptitudes will be matched with career information. Click the links to learn more about these careers.

Now, based on the results of both the quizzes, create a list of career options you want to explore further.

b. Visit the Bureau of Labor and Statistics and explore the careers you listed in the previous activity. Read about several careers in your different areas of interest. Then choose one career and study the information to learn about job preparation, job prospects, and potential salary. You can also search this handbook to further explore your chosen career. After you have read the career descriptions on both sites, write some notes about what kind of training is required, how much the job pays, and whether you have a good chance of landing a job in this field. Additionally, describe the nature of the work and the working conditions for the job that you chose. What appeals to you about the working conditions of this career? What are some drawbacks, or less appealing characteristics, of this career?

Psychologist- training: internship, Pay: $69,280 per year $33.31 per hour, Outlook: 12%, Working Conditions: independently, research with patients, health care team, social worker, school settings.

c. Visit this test prep site to explore testing and licensing requirements for jobs in your field. Select the chosen area of study and look at one of the licensing exams. Then, find the link that allows you to try practice questions. Write down the field of study you chose, the test that you looked at, and what you discovered about preparing for the test.
