In today's society, the second leading cause of death in the United States is Cancer. Cancer is one of the scariest topics that affect thousands of Americans daily. According to "Top Five Most Dangerous Cancers In Men And Women (Infographic)" (July, 2014), the expected amount of new cases in America, to be diagnosed with Cancer in 2014 was 1,665,540 (UnityPoint Health, 2015). In addition, the predicted amount of Americans to die from Cancer daily was 1,600 in 2014 (UnityPoint Health, 2015). One in every three women would develop cancer within their lifetime, and one in two men would also develop Cancer within their lifetime (UnityPoint Health, 2015). The four most deadly types of cancer in the United States are "Breast Cancer," Colon and Rectal Cancer (combined)," Lung (Including Bronchus)," and "Prostate Cancer." In addition, Cancer is also one of the fastest growing illnesses and leading causes of death in the United States due to environmental changes and human genetics. (UnityPoint Health, 2015).
Cancer remains the second leading cause of death in the United States, with an expected 1,600 deaths per day. (UnityPoint Health, 2015). According to "Top Five Most Dangerous Cancers In Men And Women (Infographic) July, 2014, The five most dangerous cancers in men are: "Lung and Bronchus (87,260 male deaths in 2014);" "Pancreas (19,480 male deaths in 2014);" Prostate (29,720 male deaths in 2014);" Liver and Intrahepatic Bile Duct (14,890 male deaths in 2014);" as well as "Colon and Rectum (26,300 male deaths in 2014)." (UnityPoint Health, 2015). The five most dangerous cancers in women are: "Lung and Bronchus (72,220 female deaths in 2014);" "Breast (39,620 female deaths in 2014);" "Colon and Rectum (24,530 female deaths in 2014);" Pancreas (18,980 female deaths in 2014);" as well as "Ovary (14,030 female deaths in 2014)." (UnityPoint Health, 2015). In addition, only “5% to 10%" of all cancer cases, are due to genetic defects, and “90% to 95%” are due to environmental and lifestyle factors. (UnityPoint Health, 2015). Therefore, it is imperative to know all the facts about the causes and preventatives of cancer.
Lung and bronchus cancer is on the top five lists of dangerous types of cancer for both men and women; it is also the cause of more deaths in the United States than any other kind of cancer. (UnityPoint Health, 2015). Lungs are the organs that humans use to breath. The bronchus is a passage of one of the two tubes, which gives passage of air to the respiratory tract and in turn conducts air into the lungs. ("About Lung Cancer", 2014). According to "About Lung Cancer" (2014), studies have proven that more men are diagnosed with lung cancer because they are currently heavier smokers than women. The rate of lung cancer is higher among White and Black individuals, in comparison to those of Pacific Islander, Asian, or Hispanic descent. ("About Lung Cancer", 2014). In addition, women of White descent have a higher chance of being diagnosed with lung cancer, compared to women of different decants.
In today's society, studies have shown that the risks of developing lung cancer are: Smoking, radon gas, tobacco products, asbestos in the workplace, ionizing radiation, personal history, family history, other lung diseases, as well as other workplace exposures. Early symptoms and signs of lung and bronchus cancer include: coughing, coughing up blood (or rust-colored sputum), breathing difficulties (wheezing, shortness of breath, or noisy breathing), and loss of appetite, fatigue, as well as recurring infections (bronchitis or pneumonia). ("Lung Cancer Symptoms", 2015). In addition, advanced stages of lung and bronchus cancer have been distinguished by the spread of the cancer to particular areas of the body. The advanced stages may affect the liver, brain or bones. Furthermore, other symptoms can develop, including swelling of the face, arms or neck,
