Camp Dragonwing Book One: Epic Inferno
It was the last day of school for Connor. yIt was going pretty well for a last day, mostly because he was with his best friend Taylor. He loved her with all his heart, he’d do anything for her. “Do you have to go to camp ?” “Yea I know, but it sounds really fun, and my mom is actually letting me go, and you know how she is.” “I’m gonna miss you.” “It’s only for 2 month’s, 1 day, and a few hours. Now that I think about it that is pretty long. How i’m gonna live without seeing that stupid face?” “You’ll live.” DING-DING. “Well this is it .” “Yea i know i’ll see if i can call from camp.” HONK-HONK. It was Connor's mom they were supposed to go from school straight to the camp. “I’ll miss you .” They hugged. It was the same as every other hug they had, but it was harder knowing that Connor couldn’t see Taylor the very next day, knowing that for 2 and a half months he couldn’t assure her safety, and waved goodbye to the love of his life. “So you excited about camp?” “Yeah.” Connor sounded very lethargic. “It’s ok honey you’ll see her soon.” “Yeah I know.” The next 2 hours was very pleasant Travis and his mom talked about a lot of things including how bad the Cowboys suck, but before they could indulge deeper into the entertaining topic they arrived at the camp. “It’s huge!” “It should be I paid $300.” “So before you go take this.” Travis’ mom pulled out a leather cord with a ying-yang on it. “What’s this?” “It’s good luck it used to be your dads.” Connor’s dad died when he was little. He was a commander in the Marines. He couldn’t exactly remember the day the officers came in they’re suits to his house. All he could remember was his mom falling into his grandmother’s arms. Even though he never really knew his dad he knew he loved him, and the feeling was mutual, and he always had this feeling that his dad was watching over him. “Thanks mom.” “Now go have fun.” It was the second time today he had to wave goodbye to somebody he loved. Travis was walking towards the quad of the camp it was huge almost a football field. “They must do a lot of activities.” he thought. “Are you new?” some counselor asked. “Um...yeah.” “Follow me.” He lead Connor to a slightly smaller clearing where it seemed he was late. It looked like every camper except him made it to the clearing without help. “Go find a spot.” “Ok.” “Hello and welcome to Camp Dragonwing.” His voice was loud like a military commander. It made him think of his dad, even though he didn’t even know what his dad sounded like. He pushed the thought into the back of his brain, and focused back on the director. “You all will be separated into cabins, those named first will be cabin director, and those named second are like vice-presidents. “Cabin 1.” Travis wondered if he would be in Cabin 1. He wasn’t special in any way except sports. He felt at peace when he played basketball and football, but other than that nothing was special about Connor Ford. His mom wasn’t the richest, he wasn’t the most handsome, he was just average, and barely that. “Connor Ford, Thomas Nguyen, Lloyd Daniel, Michael Opara, and Joshua Dupiton. “Follow Counselor McCoy to your Cabin.” Travis walked out of the cluster of kids and saw his group. Thomas was a Asian-American kid who was kinda short but stocky and he was reading a book called Sage’s Notes. Lloyd was African-American and was tall and kinda lanky, though he had some muscle on him, he had braces too. Michael was Nigerian and about average height, and he looked like he worked out a lot. Joshua...well Joshua was short like 5’1 short but he was ripped it was insane. Conner was kinda jealous because he was insanely tall like 6’2 almost but he wasn’t in the best of
