SECTION 1

1.1 PROJECT NAME
Mary Jo & Billy Bob’s “Victorian Vintage” Wedding
1.2 PROJECT BACKGOUND
This project was initiated in response to Mary Jo’s announcement of her engagement to Billy Bob; hence the need for a wedding arose upon the request of her parents, also known as the “Project Sponsors”
1.3 BUSINESS CASE
This project charter represents the business case for planning a genuine and legal wedding for Mary Jo and her fiancé Billy Bob, named “Victorian Vintage”
It aims to provide her with a legal and unforgettable wedding experience and to ensure all parties included, will enjoy the same blissful satisfaction. With a time constraint of three (3) months, a budget constraint of $20,000 and an invitation list of 150 guests. This project is achievable in the time requested and budget provided, however, maximizing the number of guests will be balanced by minimizing some courtesies that may be requested for this venture.
The charter will formally authorize “Victorian Vintage” project to be planned, implemented and executed by a project team rather than be outsourced to an event planning service because the families would prefer to maintain control of the event and outsourcing can mean loss of control sometimes. Also with a set budget they aren’t prepared for any other hidden costs that may arise from outsourcing, as anything not in a contract may be a basis for additional charges.
A project plan will be further developed and submitted for approval to the project sponsors, who will be assigning the resources.
1.4 PROJECT OBJECTIVES
The objective of project “Victorian Vintage” is to plan a successful and outstanding wedding for Mary Jo and Billy Bob with requirements and constraints as detailed by the project sponsors, namely the parents of the bride, who are funding the project. The wedding is expected to take place in three (3) months, in a reception hall and with a maximum guest list of 150 persons. The ceremony must be legal and proper and fall within a budget of $20,000. All necessary tasks within the scope must be managed in a professional way and with detailed organization. Support and solutions for unexpected occurrences will be provided. Assistance and guidance will be rendered to the sponsors in making decisions when evaluating vendor choices in the event of sub-contracting some deliverables.
