Breast cancer Walk
One in every 8th women in the world has breast cancer and most of them don’t even know it. The earlier you detect breast cancer the better it is. Breast cancer well any type of cancer can hit you like a ton of bricks and leave you with lots of mixed emotions. As I walked through the crowd handing out filers, bracelets, hats and booklets I could see the stress and anxiety a few of the woman’s faces. I have done studying and preparation on breast cancer via class material and personal research. I’m also going to share with you my personal view from observing and analyzing many of the women I interviewed at the walk. There journey with breast cancer, has been a rollercoaster from when it was first diagnosed up until now. According to the American Cancer Society over 200,000 new cases of invasive Breast cancer are diagnosed each year. Today I will inform you about some facts, treatments & risk on Breast cancer. To understand breast cancer you really have to be “diagnosed”. Breast Cancer is a malignant tumor (a collection of cancer cells) arising from the cells of the breast. Although breast cancer is predominantly in women it can affect men as well. There are several types of breast cancer that differ in their capability of spreading (metastasize) to other body tissues. Pathology determines what stage you’re diagnosed with. Cancer is usually expressed through stages, 0 describing non-invasive cancer that remain within their original location and stage IV describing invasive cancers that spread outside the breast to the other parts of the body. As I quote from one of the Cancer surviving woman “Anyone can be a victim. Year after year many people are faced with tough medical decisions that can affect their own personal lives”. Surprisingly, the cancer is characterized as being a woman’s cancer. Breast cancer affects not only women, but also men and in rare case even children. Sadly, at the walk in jones beach, a 20-year-old girl was diagnosed with breast cancer, sparking an interest on how widespread and unpredictable this epidemic really is. Breast cancer has been a known killer for several years and continues to be the number one killer among young and older women. There are many reasons why breast cancer does not get diagnosed during the early stages.
