“Breaking Away”

“Please! No! I don't want to die! I won't tell anyone what happened or what your name is or what you face looks like. I promise! I made a mistake. I won't do it again. I swear. I swear,” I pleaded as the ropes cut into my flesh, pulling my arms back and breaking the bones. Even as I said this, the gruesome scenes replaying through my mind could never be forgotten. “Don't worry. We'll make sure you won't have a chance to tell on us ever.” The figure laughed maniacally as he said this. ***
Maybe I should rewind a little, sorry. Hey, I'm Isaak Hardy. I'm 16 years old and I'm definitely the hottest guy in my grade at Breakwater High. I have the typical body of a soccer player; tanned, toned body, sandy blonde hair, and around 5 foot 10 inches. So there I was, sitting in detention with my girlfriend, Jamie Sullivan. She is perfect: she has curly brown hair, tan skin and a smile that shines like the brightest star in the night sky. We were both staring at the clock awaiting the final bell of the day, the bell that would signify the end of this stupid detention and set me free for the weekend. As the clock ticked over to 5:00, the shrill bell sounded and the scraping of thirty chairs against the floor was heard as everyone rushed to leave the 'Hell Hole'(also known as our school). The afternoon air was dull and humid as we headed home the same route as every other day. Everything had an eerie feel, as if the world was warning us: 'something bad is going to happen to you today'. Unfortunately, it was completely and utterly right.

In the dimming light of the afternoon a black van silently moved down the road leading to Breakwater High School. Stopping in front of Jamie and I as we walked down the road. Two men stepped out of the van dressed in dark clothing. Stealthily; so that the we would not notice they walked up behind Jamie and I. Within seconds they had one arm around each of us and a cloth on our faces that smelled slightly of methylated spirits. We were dragged into the awaiting van without a sound. The taller of the two jumped into driver’s seat, while the other man sat in the back of the van with Jamie and I. I suspect at that time the shorter man gave a signal to the driver and as the van jerked into motion we flew across the van and hit the side with a painful thump. I was beginning to lose my orientation as the driver took sharp turns left and right to get to our destination as fast as possible. I put my hand out to try and find Jamie and in my state of near unconsciousness I found her and heard her whimpering quietly out of pure fear. After what seemed like an hour of driving the van came to a silent halt and the back doors of the van were thrown open and the brilliant colours of the sunset seeped into the van where Jamie and I sat huddled in the corner.

We were pulled out of the van aggressively and led into a rundown brick house in the middle of nowhere. We were surrounded by trees on two sides and a large dam in front of the house; and as we were pushed inside my last thought was “at least this beautiful sight was one of the last things I will see”. As we were pushed down stairs into a room that could vaguely be described as a cellar Jamie held my hand squeezing it with every step she took. Soon we were tied up on two metal chairs on opposite sides of the room; I could barely make out Jamie’s face because of the pitch blackness
