Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)

Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is a very serious disorder that causes unstable-mood, behavior and relationships. 1.6 percent of adults are diagnosed with BPD in any given year. Scientist believes that BPD is a misleading diagnosis but there is no better term for the illness. Borderline Personality Disorder is a disorder causing patient’s to have trouble regulating emotions, thoughts, impulse control and reckless behavior. Scientists also believe patients with this disorder suffer from other issues like: substance abuse, depression, anxiety, eating disorders and etc.…
To be diagnosed with BPD patients must have at least five of the symptoms for more than a month. These symptoms include but are not limited to: 1.) Extreme reactions to situations, panic, depression, rage, and frantic reactions to abandonment whether real or perceived. 2.) Patterns of intense stormy relationships with friend’s family and loved ones causing them to stay clear of developing extreme closeness and love with others. 3.) Patients will have a distorted self-image 4.) Patient may be impulsive and often display dangerous behavior, i.e.: spending sprees, unsafe sex, substance abuse, reckless driving and binge eating. 5.) Cutting or causing self-harm without suicidal ideation, suicidal behavior and thoughts 6.) Highly changeable moods with each episode lasting anywhere from a few hours to a few days 7.) Chronic feelings of problems controlling anger 8.) Inappropriate, intense anger or problems controlling anger
