Men are from Mars; Women are from Venus – John Gray, Ph.D.
The main message in the book, Men are from Mars; Women are from Venus, is that men and women are so different in many ways that they might as well be from different planets. Men and women seem to fail to communicate with each other on how to understand how each other loves and expects to be loved, and that is the reason for relationship and marriage conflict. Men and women communicate in very different ways. Men want to see the solution, they want to just get straight to the point and then be done with the situation. I have heard so many stories from my mom about her home life and how terrible it was. Her dad, my grandpa, was an alcoholic with a gambling problem; she also has three sisters who were not very nice at all. She was an Air Force brat so they moved around frequently and did not live in the greatest places. Her father would say terrible things to her when she was young and all through her teenage years and she rarely heard ‘I love you’. She was never supported in anything she did as she grew up. But my dad loves my mom very much. Personally I am more like my dad in many ways. I am more like him emotionally, because I don’t show my emotions as often. I am more like him athletically, because he was going to play minor league baseball before he threw his shoulder out and I am a collegiate volleyball player. I am also more like him because I got his sense of humor; my mom takes things a little too seriously sometimes. I am also like my mom though in that I care for people deeply, more than I can explain sometimes. I am
