Question 1:
When people are looking for a healthier choice they will opt for a salad. Certain salads will consist of lettuce, celery, and fruits such as strawberries. Lettuce and celery contain carbs aka (carbohydrates). These carbohydrates provide a source of energy and fuel needed for the human body to function. Strawberries on the other hand contain carbohydrates as well, but more monosaccharides than vegetables. Monosaccharides of course are sugars which fruits provide. When the individual is seeking proteins they will add meat products, such as chicken. Another source of good protein are nuts, such as peanuts, walnuts, or cashews. Last but not least, many people who eat salads will add dressing. Salad dressing contains lipids, these lipids provide the body with energy.
We talk about proteins, why are they so important? Roughly twenty percent of the human body is made up of protein. Protein plays an important role in almost all biological processes and amino acids are the building blocks. Large portions of our cells, tissues and muscle is made up of amino acids. They carry out many important bodily functions; one is giving cells their structure. They also transport and store nutrients, this is the reason why we need proteins because it’s essential for our bodies healing process. Wounds and damaged tissue, especially in muscles, bones, skin and hair are repaired with the help of proteins.
