Did you know that Florida has 663 miles of beaches? No wonder it gets more than 80 million visitors a year. My family and I always look forward to our vacations in Daytona, Florida during the frigid winter break. The other night as I was sitting on the couch the smell of an orange, my sister had been eating, reminded me of one of my vacations in Florida. I will never forget the moment when I rolled the car window down and smelt the fresh sweet air. I couldn’t wait to walk along the beach and feel the soft white smooth sand between my toes. All I wanted to do was go to the beach. I could hear the pelicans screeching, a little girl screaming as her mother splashed her, the airplanes and boats even and the palm trees swaying in the wind. The first thing I did when I got there was change into my bathing suit. I was too excited to even put sunscreen on or wait for my parents. I would run onto the beach straight into the salty warm water. My siblings and I would spend the whole day skim boarding. Eventually we got tired and would lie on the damp warm sand and look into the cloudless cerulean blue sky. The blazing hot sun felt so good on our backs and the grains of sand glistened in the sun like a diamond ring. I’ll never forget visiting my Uncle Dave’s house in Orlando and seeing how gigantic their oranges trees were. They towered over me and it smelt like one of those strong orange cleaners. My Uncle would always pick out the best oranges. My mouth waters every time I think about how sweet they are. Usually bedtime is always a problem for me, but in Florida I fell asleep like a baby. It’s not just the beach, but the things that surround it soothe me. I’m comforted by the sounds of the ocean and I love sleeping on the balcony.
