Yellowstone National Park

Yellowstone National Park is an excellent place to visit for those with a taste for natural beauty and adventure. It offers many different natural phenomena which are each in themselves unique and gorgeous. Much of its beauty can also be attributed to the seasons. The signature attraction of the park is the largest, most explosive geyser on the continent. It’s named Old Faithful due to its predictable eruption schedule. This eruption is a great spectacle to behold. The geyser sits quietly gurgling, and holds the spectators high in anticipation as they look on eagerly, not wanting to miss the event. Then the ground rumbles, as do their ears, and out comes a goliath pillar of sulfur, water, and steam. The spectators look on in awe as the water hurdles over 100 feet in height, and their hearts leap in excitement as they ponder the shear power required to perform the feat. After pressing on for over a minute, it begins to settle, and the euphoric feeling begins to disappear, leaving the onlooker with just a memory. The aftertaste of the event is the overwhelming odor of rotten eggs given off by the sulfur, but after such a show, few resent it. The best-hidden secret of the park is its waterfall and the subsequent canyon. Determined sightseers will find this monumental beauty tucked away quietly in the central region of the park. A trip down a heavily wooded walkway reveals the gentle giant. Off in the distance, the falls can be seen and its muffled roar still carries the power of the rushing river. The waterfall drops over 300 feet to the canyon floor below, bringing back up a thick mist, with a light aroma of freshness and life. It then carves gently though the steep, rock walls on either side, meandering its way down out of the mountains. The vantage point is too far to smell the rich, thriving water, but still offers the classic, natural smell of a wooded walkway. Best of all, is the wonderful, white, winter season. Everything in the park takes a new face. The flora is mostly covered in a shimmering, white, fluffy blanket of snow, often more than four feet deep. It is as though the trees are all decorated, dressed for a grand event. The area is chilling to the feel, but warming to the heart. The golden glow of the sun at sunrise and sunset only adds to the magic. Every sight of wildlife and all of the vast, picturesque landscapes offer breath-taking experiences which can never be forgotten. It is interesting to note how the extremely cold snow can sit so close to the dangerously piping-hot springs without melting. The waterfall turns into a mammoth-sized ice wall, seemingly impenetrable. The mountain tops offer vantage points which seem to instill an indescribable understanding about the world. The air is always crisp, clean, and cold. It is said that water is odorless, but a person can always smell snow. Furthermore, the sulfur comes though the air more pungently in winter-time. The entire park is filled with exciting sights to be seen and adventures to be had. It is a place of natural beauty and fills the observer with awe. Its beauty comes from its many unique phenomena and the effects of the seasons.
