Hanukkah is a jewish holiday that is celebrated for eight whole days. Since the Jewish calendar is lunar based this holy day is celebrated in late November or late December since every year Hanukkah’s first day wll fall differently each year. To the jewish this holy day starts on the 25th of the month Kislev.
Hanukkah is no very famous with Jews, it is one of the less important ones to them. Non jews know more of this holy day because it is near to Christmas and when it became more popular in the 19th century. This holy day is to commemorate the victory of the Maccabees over the Greeks in 164 BCE when the greeks had taken over the Jewish temple.
