Avatar Project Avatar, the movie, is closely related to the conquering of the Aztecs and the conquering of the Incas. In the movie I saw three distinct similarities between it and the conquering of the Incas and Aztecs. One similarity I observed was that the humans in the movie are far more advanced than the native people of Pandora. This relates to the conquering of the Incas/Aztecs because the Spanish conquistadors who conquered them were more advanced than the Incas/Aztecs. In the movie the humans have futuristic technology like weaponry and vehicles. The native people, however, are very primitive. Like the humans, the Spaniards have technology like ships, horses, and armor. Like the native people in the movie the Aztecs/Incas are very primitive as well. Another similarity I saw in the movie that related to the conquering of the Incas/Aztecs was that the native people in the movie and the Incas/Aztecs had their own unique language. In the movie, the Na’vi, the natives of Pandora, speak their own language. The people who have to interact with the natives had to learn to speak the language, which was very different from English. The Incas spoke their own language as well. It was called Qechua. Again, it is very different from English too. Another similarity that I saw was that both the Na’vi and the Incas had their leaders fall. In the movie, the leader of the Omaticaya was Eytukan. He died in the movie when the humans

Atahualpa. He died from European Smallpox that the Spaniards had brought over from
Spain.
Another similarity that I saw was that in the movie the humans had a huge army that helped almost destroy the natives. In the conquering of the Incas the Spaniards had a good size army as well. In the movie, the army of the humans was composed of helicopters, gunships, and foot soldiers. The Spaniards army composed of cavalry and foot soldiers. Another similarity I saw was that both the native people in the movie and the Incas lived in jungles. The environment of the native people and the Incas was the same. The native
