Good morning/afternoon ladies and gentleman. Thank you for inviting me here today to talk to you about what is it that makes us Australian and why it is the greatest country. Australia Day is an invitation to celebrate heroes – those extraordinary people who together made possible our large and successful society. Before starting, though, please let me thank those who have kindly asked me to speak today. Australia is known for its multicultural background as our culture is driven by the people who live in our nation. This is the reason why we are a stable and a growing country. What makes being an Australian so special? Well there are many reasons that could answer this question. First of all our nation is governed by people who have been elected to do so. This allows us to have the basic foundations to live happily and safely. We have an opportunity to vote and have our say; free speech is the underlying problem to undeveloped and unrested countries as they are ruled by dictators. All Australian citizens have the freedom, opportunities as each individual. We are all treated equally.

Most of us don’t realise how lucky we all are for living in Australia and for growing up in what this country has to offer. My parents moved from Europe to Australia in the 80’s to look for better jobs and to live in a safer environment and a more beautiful country. They also wanted to raise us kids in Australia as they knew the opportunities Australia had to offer were better than any other nation. They also considered our future and the people that they wanted us to grow up with. Australia at that time was a very stable country with a good future. It was a safe environment I guess, to bring up a family and to hold a secure job without having the concern of the government going bankrupt or even worse going corrupt. The freedom we have cannot be put into words but just remembered as we are a lucky country that thrives on peace and equality.
