You are the manager of Green residential care home for older people. You have been asked to give a presentation on how legislation, policies and procedures relating to health, safety and security influence health and social care settings to a group of first year students preparing for their first work placement.
Scenario 2 for task 3: P3, M2 and D1:
As the manager of Green residential care home, you are also required to carry out a risk assessment of your residential care home. Note: you could also use room E12 for your Risk
Assessment activity.
Scenario 3 for task 4: P4, M3, D2:
As part of a job interview you have been asked to provide information on how to deal with incidents and emergencies.

Tasks
Task 1 – Potential hazards in health and social care settings
P1 - Explain potential hazards and the harm that may arise from each in a health and social care setting.
For you to achieve this task, you need to work on your own or in pairs to produce a presentation slides that explain potential hazards and the harm that may arise from each relating hazard in health and social care setting (P1).
This may include hazards relating to the physical environment, equipment, infections, substances, working conditions, working practices and security systems. You may use pictures of hazardous substances in completing this task.
You could visit a health or social care setting before you carry out this task.
You must explain potential hazards and the harm that may arise from each.
A minimum of six potential hazards should be covered.
