Social Class

Everyone has a story. Some are proud of them, and some not so much. Our stories define a part of who we are as people. The hardships we face and the determination and perseverance to pull through are all a part of each and every one of us. It is what makes human beings so great. When you are born into this world, you do not get to choose where you end up. You only get to choose what you make out of your life.

I am a twenty four year old female who

currently lives alone and supports herself. I fall in the Middle class society of America with a job and current salary average of 26,000 dollars. Growing up, this wasn’t always the case regardless of the middle class placement. The average income in my family during my childhood averaged about 25,000 to 40,000 for a family of 6. We were always moving around from job to job as well. While this is considered Middle class income for our time, it sure didn’t feel like it growing up. Not a lot to live on, but we still prevailed and grew up knowing the value of hard work and the love and encouragement we got from our parents was more than enough to know that we could do anything we set our minds to. I am not a first generation college student as my mother has gone back to school in pursuit of her masters in psychology. She just recently finished her A.A and her B.A. I am so proud of her and her strength and desire to do this just helped to motivate me even more. There is a pride that was distilled in me because of my station in life, and the fact that I was homeschooled.
People believed that we would not got to college because we weren’t enrolled in a public school but not only have I done this, but I have proven that things aren’t always cut and dry
