Most would think that in a district like MSAD6, athletics would overrule arts. But, when all the math is done, arts gets funded more than sports. The athletics have a higher budget but theres a substantial amount of athletes in our school. The arts activities program gets way less money from the school then the athletics do but, since they have a very small amount of people their budget is higher per person.

Although the athletics gets more money over all, the actually teams only receive

a coach, a field, transportation, referees, and new game balls. If they want new jerseys, to enter a tournament, bags, shoes, or any of the above the money must be raised by boosters. Coaches get paid on how much time they spend coaching, and it is a slow ladder to get a raise in that. The exact amount of money that goes to the athletics department is 19,619$ which gives the student 26.80$. When we talk about arts, it is only referring to the after school art activities. This includes drama with fifty kids, jazz band with eighteen kids, and the newly started jazz chorus with only two kids at the moment. Since the after school art department receives
