This article was very informative, interesting and I enjoyed it. Now when it came to the lawsuit against Brianna LaHara I was a little skeptical on whether or not it was fair or not. First off she was only 12 years old. She probable did not know that what she was doing was illegal. To the artist or producers, no, it’s not fair because like the article said, it’s not fair to the artist who has spent their time and money on their music, only for someone to give it all away. I can understand that. Now that I think about it, the punishment was fair because the artist or producer needed to be reimbursed. Now if that was me in the hot seat for illegal distribution of musical product… the way I would defend myself is blaming it all on my age. I am just now coming out of elementary school, I love music, and I want to share my music with my friends. Present this statement “what is the difference between me sharing files online and me buying a CD, and letting my friends hold it to get the songs off of it and continuing that pattern?” I’d either come from that angle or I would plea guilty off rip because, I know that what I did was wrong. I can’t deny that. Especially if I have the knowledge I have now! Oh yes, I’d be dead wrong. So I would say to the judge “I apologize for illegally distributing music products online and I am willing to take full responsibility for my actions.” Simple as that, no arguments, I’d bite the bullet and take my punishment as it is given. <
