Are Wal-Mart's Low Wages A Drag On The Economy? New Report Says Yes

According to a study released by Congressional Democrats, U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders argued that the minimum wage should be raised, because the nation's largest private employer Wal-Mart-- routinely pays such low wages .Wal-Mart’s poverty wages are so measly that many of its workers are forced to rely on food stamps, Medicaid and other government aid programs to survive, which costs the American taxpayer over $0.9 to $1.75million per year per store.
This new report is more proof that the minimum wage should be increased for all Americans, not only because it calculated just how much government aid Wal-Mart workers are forced to rely on, but it also determined the staggering amount American’s are paying in taxes to subsidize Wal-Mart’s profits.
However, in my opinion, Wal-Mart pays "crappie wages" because their employees accept, and agree to work for "crappy wages." Probably one reason they DO accept such wages is BECAUSE they can get government welfare benefits. Who would take a job that does not pay enough to cover their bills? If someone takes such a job they won't keep it for very long if they can't survive on the pay. Welfare warps the labor market. It isn't that Wal-Mart is "costing taxpayers" with their low pay. The Welfare State is Allowing Wal-Mart to pay such low wages. Wal-Mart is simply playing the game that was mostly designed by Democrats.
