Are there mass communication platforms you overuse and underuse?
I do not know if I should say I am overuse mass communications platforms such as Facebook and Instagram or I am addicted to them. I overuse Facebook because coming from Africa; it is very expensive to call my country so my best and most reliable method of communication is Facebook. I also use Facebook because I do not watch the news and I do not have purchase or order newspapers because I can always know what is happening or going on around the world on Facebook. I also use Instagram because I am love seeing what is going on in the world of fashion without having to buy magazines and etc. I do use my email a lot too because people contact me for official business purposes through emails and I also depend on my email for coupons. How has your mass communication usage changed in the past two years? Five years?
Over the past couple of years, mass communication usage has changed. About 3-5 years ago, mass communication platforms that were used were Facebook, email and YouTube. People could sit at home on the balcony and read a newspaper but today we have all kinds of mass communications even the ones we do not even know they exist. Friends can’t go out on a dinner date without everyone being silent and focusing on their phones, parents barely sit their children down to talk to them like before. I can’t write out all of the things that have changed in social media usage but I know everyone sees them on a daily basis.
When comparing your texting habits to those in the video, do you think you text too much? Why or why not?
I will rather text than talk on the phone. To be honest I probably exchange at least 5000 text messages and everyone around me tells me I over use my phone,
