Are Movie Ratings Adequate
When you walk in into the movies theater do you really know what to expect? In my own experience I’ve been to movies that where pg 13 parental guidance for children 13 and up, where they’re not as they seemed. There are positives and negatives to these movies rating’s. However there are some things they can do to improve these ratings and make them more accurate.
Positive about movie ratings
First of all a constructive point is at least they hae movie ratings. If their where no rating you would be unaware of what you might be going to watch. Ratings giving you an idea of what will be in the movie, such as language content sexual or explicit behavior. Movie ratings let you know if it is something your kids and whole family can watch.
Negatives about movie ratings
Movies rating are not that precise all the time. My son which is 5 and myself went to go see a movie. The first thing that happens in the begging of the show is the boy stealing and running from the cops. What kind of message is that sending to children? The punch lines where funny but not appropriate for a child. Children pick up on what they see and hear I don’t want my son thinking he can say bite me because it was a funny joke in a movie.
Methods to improve the way movies are rated
Movies rating policies could be stricter about the way they are rating movies. The (MPAA) Motion Picture Association of America Classification and Ratings Administration would be the first ones that need to make a change. They can be more keen on the way they do rate movies.
