1. Compare the development of northern and southern India. Describe similarities and differences.
Answer:
As far as the differences between northern and southern India are concerned, there are many ranging from the arts, to the behavior of society, even to individual behavior. When it comes to the arts, the northern part of India had great influences from the Persian Gulf and British, unlike the south. You can tell this within their historical references they make. The South however is a different story. They have never been united as one, and instead have varying influences that all come together to make up the art culture that southern India displayed. Some of these influences came from places like China, Portugal, and even the Dutch.
The behavior as a society and individual behaviors in both the northern and the southern regions of India differed a lot. The northern society ranged greatly from the rich upper class showboats, to the lower class people who could barely scrape by with what they had. Unlike that, the south had a more conservative society and the difference between the different classes. The north consisted of mostly an upper/ middle class people who had money and liked to show it. This region was known as being more aggressive and more involved in wars then southern India.
Although there were all these differences, there are some similarities in the two. Both the northern and southern parts of India had the same type of crops and tobacco products. Both supported the use of indentured servants rather than slavery which was practiced in other places, mainly United States. Also they shared economic policies since they were still one region together.
