If you think there are true advantages of stealing, I would consider the consequences of that. There are a lot of negative results from stealing, especially if you get caught. There are social or cultural rules, religious rules and personal beliefs against stealing. The greatest fact to stealing is that it is against the law. If you are caught, you can be punished by being jailed or imprisoned—it also has long term effects and it can impair future opportunities. And as of me I have probation for the punishment. Peer pressure is one reason why people shoplift or steal. Some might do it to seem cool or daring. Some do it because their friends steal and they want to be part of the group. Some people steal because they want things their classmates have but can't afford them. In some Arab countries, they cut off one hand of a thief as punishment. Another negative thing in stealing is that people don’t like it when someone steals from them. They become angry and may seek revenge on the person who did the stealing. Once a person has been branded as a thief, other people will no longer trust him or her. Even other thieves do not trust someone who steals. And this is a true fact coming from me and what I think about stealing. While the law often punishes the criminal, the casual thief—the person who may take something that doesn't belong to him—can be ostracized by his society, if associates find out about his stealing.
