Rodrigues discusses in some detail how Fayol's principles of management individually are/are not used in modern management. He doesn't necessarily hold a contention or argument as he is ultimately comparing and contrasting the world of management in US organisations from early 1900's to now. However the result of each of his discussions fall in the same favour each time, which may potentially be viewed as a bias and further as a limitation of this journal. A further limitation of this article is that it blurs the line between positive and normative And therefore to answer the essay question.

In this article, Joyce Thompson Heames and Jacob W. Through the use of reports and displaying tables in the article, the two authors explain the importance of reviewing the past in order to successfully understand modern business. Their aim was to discuss the original and the replication and extension of the 1977 Daniel Wren and Robert Hay study. Their findings show us that, over the past 30 years, the academic community has promoted the works of some of the great men and women on the list, thus keeping them strongly implanted in our institutional memory, while others have fallen into obscurity. I find this article to be a useful resource because it clearly tells me who the top 10 contributors of that era were. To conclude, the results of the study informed our thinking but left us wanting to know more about the contributions of the top ten pioneers.
