Animal Rights speech

An ethical issue can be identified as a problem that requires a person or organization to determine whether a situation’s circumstances are right (ethical) or wrong (unethical). Animal rights are considered to be an ethical issue in society due to the ongoing debate of what is the wrong or right way to treat an animal. This issue is made more difficult by the deep love that many people feel for animals. For years there have been endless debates concerning animal rights and the ethical issues that accompany this topic. Animal rights Australia and various members of the “Greens” party vigorously oppose to the opinions of those who reject modern day Animal rights.

The people who oppose to this issue mainly include politicians, farmers and consumers and they all fear the loss of the same thing; money. Politicians are more interested in the money that trades like live animal export provide the country. Despite the potent evidence presenting the animal cruelty that accompanies live animal exports, politician’s fear that stopping the trade will cause the country an economic downfall. Farmers fear that the cost of stopping factory farming such as caged chickens, cows and pigs will become to expensive and cause their business to become economically unviable which could also leave a significant impact on not only the individual farmers themselves but also the Australian economy. Consumers fear that the enforcement of packaging laws, advertising the truth of the meat production will cause a significant drop in sales. For example, the meat industry threatened to stop supplying Coles with meat when they begun to advocate animal rights throughout their stores. These people are appealing to financial considerations rather than humanitarian, which is by far the least ethical way to approach this issue.

There are many sides to this debate. Animal rights Australia are suggestively the largest contributor in Australia standing up for the rights of animals. Animal rights Australia call the selves ‘the voice for animals’ and has an unprecedented track record in investigating and exposing animal cruelty and conducting world first strategic public awareness campaigns. Animal rights Australia’s vision is to create a world where all animals are treated with compassion and respect and are free from cruelty. They have a strong belief system that they can create a kinder world for all by foresting respect for animals and that our treatment of animals reflects who we are as individuals and as a society. There are also politicians in Australia who will support animal rights such as MP Andrew Willkie. MP Andrew Willkie’s plans to phase out live export and factory farming and how doing so will help to create more jobs in Australia and yield more benefits for the local economy. Andrew Willkie described the footage of the animals as “shocking” and “some of the worst animal cruelty footage we have seen- and we have seen a lot of animal cruelty of the
