Deforestation is the state of being clear of trees. The Lorax is the story of a young boy looking for why he lives in such a destroyed town. He wants to know about the Lorax, so he goes to the Once-ler for answers. The Once-ler tells the boy all about how the town became destroyed and what changes he can make for things to look better. Dr.Suess demonstrates a message visually in a children’s book on deforestation and concerns we have about our planet that some of us take for granted like air.
There was no way you could stop the Once-ler. He had all intentions of chopping down all the trees to make a Thneed.
“In no time at all, I had built a small shop. Then I chopped down a Truffula Tree with one chop. And with great skillful skill and with great speedy speed, I took the soft tuft, And I knitted a Thneed. (16)”
The Lorax spoke for the trees as the Once-ler cut tree by tree. The Lorax always came back to change things. He never gave up on what he believed in.
The Lorax began to get worried as the Once-ler started taking more tree as time went on. He was getting concerned about the Brown Bar-ba-loots, the Swomee-Swans, and the humming fish. The Bar-ba-loots survived off of eating the Truffula fruits but having no trees meant having no fruits. The Swomee-Swams were getting sick off the polluted air coming from the Thneed factory. Their throats were getting worse and could no longer sing. The humming fishes pond was getting filled with chemicals from the
