It is Victor responsibility to look out for his own creation and nurture it creation in his first steps life and lead the monster down the path of righteousness. But the problem still remains if Victor should put his reputation on the line to help or stop the monster. But as you read in more into the book you can see Victor does nothing and the monster kills innocent people because of his lack of knowledge between right or wrong. Victor should have sacrificed his good reputation to save people’s lives from the monster’s wrath.
We can agree that Victor is responsible for the monster’s decision and actions. And he is responsible for telling the monster right from wrong. So if anybody is too blame about the monsters serial murders it is Victor. In the book the monster says “Did I request thee, Maker, from my clay
To mould me Man, did I solicit thee
From darkness to promote me?”
He is basically trying to say, like Adam he has been shunned by his creator and that he has not been given the chance to be loved and cared for by his creator. That very quote by the monster promotes my reasoning behind that fact that Victor should have full responsibility for the monster.
During the story you can see that Justine is blamed for the murder of Victor older brother and Victor knows who did the crime because while he was walking through the woods he spots the monster in the woods running away. Terrified by the sight he just saw he decides to not say anything about it too anyone because he doesn’t want to put his reputation on the line and doesn’t want people to label him as being insane. Victor shouldn’t have been afraid to put his reputation on the line to save Justine. Because at the end of the day the guilt is going to be morally on him for for all the murders the monster committed. And it his job to speak up about the situation that he started and that he now and should finish. Like Victor said in the book “"I was seized by remorse and the sense of guilt, which hurried me away to a hell of intense tortures, such as no language can describe." He describes how he feels when he finds out another person dies from the monsters hands. And that he is tortured by it because he can’t do anything to stop it because he is scared.
