Analysis
I interviewed my mom, Reshmi, on her journey to America from her homeland Fiji. My mom has stood thru many tough problems throughout her life. She came to America when she was sixteen. Boarded an airplane alone on a student visa and flew down to America. From a small island known as the Fiji islands she arrived really excited to face this new world.
She came to study and had many struggles with her studies. She wasn’t able to complete her studies, it was not easy, and there were many problems that aroused when she was trying to succeed. She left harsh conditions and came to a fresh start and started her new life. She stayed with some distant relatives and it wasn’t easy because there was a lack of space and a huge family in the house. To top it off she had a hard time finding a job and didn’t have her driver’s license either. There was no close family just the distant relatives so she felt scared, because there was a brand new city to discover. She made friends later on, but not when she got to here right away. Today she still keeps in touch with some of her old friends, some are really close and some just a little bit not regularly.
She would want to go back to her hometown sometime soon, she hasn’t gone back ever since she came to America, her younger brother is still there and she hasn’t seen him ever since. She misses many of her close relatives she left behind as well as the homeland in general, the different foods, the feel of it, but she wouldn’t want to
