I am an American Soldier. I am a warrior and a member of a team. I serve the people of the United States, and live the army values. I will always place the mission first. I will never accept defeat. I will never quit. I will never leave a fallen comrade. I am disciplined, physically and mentally tough, trained and proficient in my warrior tasks and drills. I always maintain my arms, my equipment and myself. I am an expert and I am a professional. I stand ready to deploy, engage, and destroy, the enemies of the American way of life. I am an American Soldier. This is the “Soldiers Creed” it’s part of the army values. When reading this you could assume soldiers can adjust to the obstacles put in their way. One of the obstacles all soldiers have in common is the return and reintegration after a long enlistment or deployment into the society. This obstacle has many different challenges a few being medical, the well-being of their families, and education.
There are many different medical challenges soldiers face coming home from deployment ranging from physical, mental, and emotional. Some examples of physical are having a strained muscle from “PT” physical training commonly done in the early morning or a severe wound like losing a limb in direct combat.
Then you have mental and emotional challenges these range from just being nervous about seeing family and friends for the first time in over a long period of time. To something as extreme as “PTSD” Post Traumatic Stress Disorder which is triggered by something outside of the control of the victim like seeing an armed scud missile flying above your head.
Now for the well-being of the family, family is a big part of a soldier’s mental and emotional health it contributes in a big way to keeping the soldier on track and undistracted. Things such as health and safety of family members are big keys to keeping a soldier focused but there are other family related events that can hinder performance such as death and divorce these are more common among longer
