Free Verse – Face poem
I ask grandpa
Why is your face so wrinkly?
Mom hushes me
With arrows from her eyes.

Grandpa hushes her raises my hand to his forehead you write poems with pencil on paper
I write poems with years on my face

His hand over mine
Grandpa reads his forehead like braille –
My parents were poor but happy
He reads his cheeks –
The war years made me a man
He reads his chin –
I will always love grandma

I touch the corners of his eyes and read every smile, every joke as lines of poems of laughter fly to grandpa’s temples like shooting stars

Dramatic – Alie McEndaffer – Life
Ill never forget what my great grandfather use to say,
Live life to the fullest each and everyday,
He died just a few weeks ago,
And life hasn’t been the same,
Its quiet now with out him around,
But we still remember what he used to say,
Live life to the fullest,
He had no regrets,
And now its our turn to live like him,
Have fun do things we haven’t tried yet,
Reach for the stars,
He worked on a ship that went to the moon,
He worked night and day for that ship to work right,
He lived life to the fullest and reached for the stars,
Now its my turn to follow his steps.

Narrative – to love in the eyes of a man
I delight in love of a smile so gentle a touch so divine and a warmth so cozy
I delight in the love of flames of romance they melt mine heart like wax to a flame

to love as commanded for love is divine to uphold to trust and to delve into the quarry the quest of thirst so pure that dwells inside inside of mine heart that yearns for a lovers embrace

I brace myself and steel my nerves
As I drum up courage the courage to approach her love personified in the pretty female form oh so divine an attribute so pure beholder I so desire

I smile on the approach on her part it’s a shadow of a smile
I know by now she is delighted in me pursuing her very heart she knows I wish her well though not all mine intentions are holy for to love is to stare into her eyes and feel the flames

flames that draw me to cesspool of emotions a place divine where mine fears are subdued wars fought and kingdoms taken taken by her through the attributed influence her fiery passion if to love is commandant that mortal man I will adhere strictly

Epic – I’m your king
A burst of white light gamma rays, overbearing a flash of brilliance burns through to my soul everything is like hell the world starts to melt in the blink of an eye just the cold blackness of night

I don’t care if I am not again what I once was, for at this moment
I am greater now than ever before
I took the bath between teetering, tight roping walking right up to my right divined in my unholy state
I though I told you
I am your king still you sit there, hesitating

I know you hate me what does that mean?
I hate just about everything
Still I’m chosen
I did not wish before now bow down to me refuse me no more for I shall always be your demon until you accept me as your king

I don’t even know you though you say we used to be best friends, you and me the day you ditched me
I remember now exactly how it played out back when we were just tiny things even back then I still was king

you though me stupid just a ruse
I would laugh inside, you see?
Not one of you single, mean people ever even knew me that is why only I can be you true king and bring forth a new source of light everlasting

Prose - water
These forgotten badlands are arid and parched. It’s felt the blistering, desert hot winds. Turbulent gritty sand storms have crossed these lands. What was once lively, thriving is now only a desolate, thirsty terrain. After being drought - ridden for so long, the ground is hard, unyielding even to the smallest root. Even vultures have stopped
