I didn’t know much about Alhambra before this. The first time I heard of it was on the Spanish lesson when they were talking about Spain. I didn’t understand that this place were so magic, it was the perfect place for any one to live at that age, even in modern days this is perfect. All the decorations and all the marble in the house is amazing. The architecture is just stunning, even the garden on the side of the palace is one of the most beautiful areas I have ever seen. I just fell in love with this place when I saw it. I’m not a garden guy at all, I hate to do all that work in the garden, but when I see a masterpiece in gardening like this one. I just can’t walk away from it. I have to tell the owner that this is just beautiful to watch. It reminded me about the architecture in Venice, Italy when I was there. The fortress or the Alcazaba has been expanded for centuries, and actually one of the cultures they have been taking from is the Italy renaissance.
The history and the culture in the city of Granada I basically didn’t know anything about. But I know more about the Muslim culture then the Spain culture. I know that the Muslims are a strong religion and it strength is in the people. For about 800 years ago the Nasrid Kingdom was the last Muslim Kingdom in Spain. About 500 years earlier the first Muslims crossed the Gibraltar.
40 000 people lived and worked in this southern paradise. That is the basic facts about this and for 500 years the Muslims ruled the southern part of Spain. So this kingdom became big. The main city was Granada and the Muslims wanted a fortress, a stronghold so they could defend them selves from the enemies in the North. Even I who lives in Europe didn’t know about this. If I knew everything already, what is the point of learning.
I learned a lot of this virtual tour I wish there would be more of those in my life so I could understand the world a little bit better. This tour gives you a feeling that you want to travel here, to see everything
