When you look at the status of women throughout the United States there has been up’s and down’s.
When you look back at the earlier years women were looked at as having a low standard life versus men having a higher standard. In the 19th century time started changing for women; they begin to fight for equal rights. Untied States have made big advances in every field. Yet discrimination still exits, doing a man jobs once regarded as too physically strenuous. Women have become sanitation workers, police officers, fire fighters, and coal miners. In past 40 years women have come a long way, women now can earn the majority of conferred degrees overall but earn degrees than men in science and technology. Women are working more and the number of women and men in the labor force has nearly equalized in recent years. At all levels of educations, women earned about 75 percent of what their male counterparts earned 2009.

This day more and more women are delaying marriage, and fewer women are married than in the past.
More women than in the past have never had a child, and women are giving birth to their first child at older ages. When they do have children, women are having fewer children. Where both husband and wife are employed , employed wives spend more time in household activates than do employed husbands.
