Discussion Questions:
1. As the substrate increases and the PH level remains the same at 7, the amount of molecules of a product produced per minute increases. In the other experiment when the PH level is manipulated and the substrate remains the same, the amount of molecules of a product produced per minute is the opposite of the first experiment. It increased to a peaking point to which it decreased rapidly. In conclusion, when the PH level is being manipulated, the amount of molecules increases to about 300 molecules per minute before it decreases. When the substrate is being manipulated, the amount of molecules is constantly producing more. At one point in both experiments, 300 molecules were produced per minute.
2. If the temperature were to be higher or lower than 37º C that was set in the virtual lab, then the production of the molecules would decrease and be less efficient. This is because 37º C is the optimal temperature for these specific enzymes. At the "natural" environmental temperature of an enzyme, it would produce molecules more efficiently compared to if the temperature was 17º C.
