ADHD
In class you might notice a child that constantly fidget, squirms or often leave his or her seat in situations where sitting quietly is expected. Those are a couple of signs a child that might have attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (commonly referred to as ADD or ADHD). ADD or ADHD is a neurologically based condition characterized by problems with attention impulse control and hyperactivity. It can involve everything from movement to speech to attention, and it can also affect a child’s ability to learn and get along with others. Surprise, here are dozens of children with this disorder. Just to gave a few statistics, 2.1 million kids between the ages of 4 to 5 have ADHD and .3 million children between the ages 12 to 17 have ADHD. By family structure, 3.1 million children with a mother and father have ADHD, 1.7 million children with a mother but not a father has ADHD and 178,000 children with a father but not a mother has ADHD. In a case study I noticed that most people don’t even know about the hardships of ADHD. Being one of them I had to educate myself and become more knowledgeable about it. In the study they investigated theories about the causes, symptoms and treatments of attention – deficit hyperactivity disorder. They took 163 adults around the age of 28 and just over a third claimed they know someone with ADHD. They came from a wide Varity of backgrounds. A questionnaire was devised based on various interviews. Then the 163 participants completed the questionnaire, in which they rated 65 statements about cases symptoms, treatments and general beliefs about ADHD. It was hypothesized that there would be a series of logical correlations between beliefs about the cause and treatments. The conclusion of this case study came out to be despite increasing diagnosis of popular media attention to, and discussion about ADHD in both adults and children. Many adults still remain poorly informed about the anthology or treatment of the disorder. Too become more educated about ADHD I started looking up studies about children and ADHD. In one study I read about children with ADHD are consistently associated with impairments in executive functions, with disruptive behavior disorder. They went to say that the children are getting diagnosed of these disorders earlier in development, but yet no one really knows if EF has anything to do with children that have ADHD. The method used was that had 202 children ages 3 to 5 years with ADHD and then go through a series of five tasks. The conclusion came out to be that clinically diagnosed preschool children with ADHD showed inhibition deficits, in which preschool children with DBD showed impaired inhibition. The severities of inhibition impairment were similar to the ADHD group. Despite of if people know about ADHD its been proven that putting exercise in a child’s itinerary can help a child with their ADHD. In this case study I read about is about the effects of exercise on children with attention- deficit hyperactivity disorder, they took eighteen children from the ages 8-12 years old. For ten weeks: without taking any medication, the children
