“Music is an extremely important and useful tool in the way we learn and to deny its power is a waste of a truly wonderful resource.” (Kirsten David Olson) Though some would look at music as a small footnote in the progression of humanity, it is in fact a much greater force; for some like myself, it defines my very existence. The fact is, music is a driving source in society; it has been present since the dawn of man. It is not surprising, then, that music has a great effect on how I act and think, possibly even effecting my intelligence.

As a background activity, listening to music can positively affect my mood and productivity. I will always have the music to lift my mood and distract me from unnecessary stress. In general, music can teach anyone way more than they even think.

Hearing the audience roar after a performance, talking to a younger student about the rough morning they had, and making new friends at a show choir camp miles away from home are all few of the many reasons why music has taught me to reach out chase my dreams down. Being on the Advanced Choir at Brownstown Central High School has been an absolute blast. Choir has taught me to choose my friends wisely and to cherish every moment with them. Without them I wouldn’t be the same person I am today. I am so honored to be the assistant choir director at Brownstown Central Middle School. Seeing all of their faces every day and being able to help them, sing and dance with them, and know that they are always going to know that I am here for them is one of the best feelings. They really make me so proud when they perform for all of their family and friends. A huge feeling of accomplishment rushes over me and I couldn’t ask for
