About Aadhar Card Many countries across the world use a unique identity system whereby each citizen receives a number that hold all details pertinent to their identity under it. The Aadhar Card also known as UID (Unique Identification Authority of India) is a central government agency of India. It is considered the world’s largest national identification number project. The Aadhar Card project is run by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) and was introduced in January 2009. The general idea behind this programme is to issue every citizen with a unique number to help identify them and provide them the benefit of schemes announced by the government. Eligibility of Aadhar Card Any citizen of India can apply for Aadhar Card Children below the age of 3 years are not eligible for Aadhar Card. Non-Residence Indians can also apply for the Aadhar Card. Foreigners who are residing in India can also take the Aadhar Card. Types of Aadhar Card 1. Aadhar Card for Resident Indians Every individual person living in India, irrespective of race, religion or gender is eligible to apply for an Aadhar number. There is even no need to be part of a particular segment of society to be eligible. 2. Aadhar for Minors Even minor are eligible to apply for an Aadhar Card through in their case a birth certificate is required along with the proof of identity and address of the parents. Once they have their UID, they will need to update their biometric data once they turn 15 years old. 3. Aadhar Card for
