9C Fast Food Unit Essay
Is children’s health serious to fast food companies? According to Kelly Brownell in her article, “Are Children Prey for Fast Food Companies?” it’s not that serious to them. Fast food places are just as responsible as parents. Parents are responsible for their children’s bad eating habits and their health but, fast food companies are also responsible for the things they put in the food. Parents and fast food companies need to take responsibility for their actions and decisions. If people are going to solve problems, they should solve it the right way and not the wrong way.
There is so much the government can do to stop fast food companies from what they’re doing to children’s health. For example the text, by Kelly Brownell, it states “The government has the authority to restrict marketing aimed at children and also has sway over what goes into food (for example, a number of cities in the U.S. and the entire country of Denmark have banned Trans fats in restaurants foods). This shows that the government has the power to do something but chooses not to. This also shows the government is lazy and just doesn’t care for other children’s health but only for their own.as a result of the governments selfishness children are obese and the rates of diabetes is accelerating.
As a matter of fact, obesity is one of the most important global health concerns. In the article, “Fast Food Restaurants Not Fighting Child Obesity”, by Ben Tracy, he states “The report is the most comprehensive study ever into fast food nutrition and marketing. It shows that out of more than 3,000 possible kids’ meal combinations at the major chains, only 12 meet nutritional guidelines for pre-schoolers.” The fact that young children are being targeted is sick to hear and see happening. In other words, it’s hard for any parent to hear their children are obese or has diabetes. Obesity has a lot of effects that cannot only
