The Benefits of GCSE Double or Triple Science Course
GCSE stands for General Certificate of Secondary Education which is highly valued by schools, colleges and employers, so will be useful whatever a student is planning to do after.

GCSE Science mainly involves studying the theory of Science, combined with some investigative work.

GCSEs are at levels 1 and 2 on the National Qualifications Framework, depending on the grade you get. The framework shows how different types of qualifications compare, in terms of the demands they place on learners.

The Triple & Double Science courses are able to:
· Help students achieve their full potential
· Help students understand scientific content is relevant for today's challenges.
· Allow students to build a strong foundation of scientific knowledge for a range of post 16 course.
· Met the needs for students from all levels of ability.

Assessment

How will work be Assessed There are a range of assessments which will be carried out during your Science GCSE course. These assessments will be carried out within your GCSE Science sessions as well as outside the classroom as extended learning tasks.
The learner will apply your knowledge to develop your skills and abilities through practical activities.
The learner will be assessed continually throughout the 2/3 years by carrying out mock examinations (carried out in the Hall), end of unit exam (carried out in the classroom) , middle unit exam (carried out in the classroom) and a range of assessments such as worksheets, exam style questions.
The Learner will also produce a range of evidence during their sessions which will help them assess their own learning:
Written reports
Presentations
Posters or information displays
Role play
Interviews
Video of activities

Science Level Ladders
Science Level ladders will be one of the ways that you will be keeping a record of the students assessments and progression within Science.
Each level ladder will have an assessment to go along side it.
The Science level ladder will contain all the topic content for each unit that you carry out in the GCSE Triple or Double Science course.
The Science level ladders will be used to mark and assess the learners work for any assessments marked either by the student, their peers or class teacher (this is for the marking in Science).
A literacy target, topic target and a numeracy target (if applied) will be set linked to the assessment linked to the level ladder (this could either be a set of exam questions, exam paper, worksheet,
