1.0 Purpose:
The purpose of this policy is to describe the operations of the cosmetology salons.
2.0 Policy:
It is American Care’s policy that medical centers contain a cosmetology salon for the use of patients to receive basic salon services such as manicures, pedicures, haircuts, and basic hair styling. 3.0 Persons affected:
All employees.
4.0 Definitions: None.
5.0 Responsibilities: The Medical Center Coordinator and cosmetologist are responsible for operating the cosmetology salons.
6.0 Procedures and work flow:
6.1 Cosmetology salon function
6.1.1 The cosmetology salon provides basic salon services to patients such as manicures, pedicures, haircuts, and basic hair stylings.
6.1.2 Salon appointments are made by patients on a first come, first served basis. 6.1.3 The patient has to sign-in the salon log book to schedule the salon appointment. 6.1.4 The cosmetologist does not paint fingernails or toenails.
6.1.5 The cosmetologist does not dye hair or perform other hair treatments such as perms.

American Care employees are not permitted to utilize the cosmetology salon services for their personal use.
6.2 Salon licensing requirements:
6.2.1 The cosmetology salon must be contained in a separate, distinct area from the medical center, separated by walls with a distinct front entrance.
6.2.2 The salon must contain a minimum of 200 square feet of floor space.
6.2.3 The salon has hot and cold running water on the premises.
6.2.4 A copy of the salon’s license should be conspicuously displayed in view of the front entrance to the salon.
6.2.5 The original salon license should be displayed with all of the medical center’s licenses behind the front desk.
6.2.6 The most recent cosmetology salon inspection sheet should be displayed at the front entrance to the salon.
6.2.7 The Consumer Protection Notice should be displayed at each footbath.
6.3 Cosmetologist requirements:
6.3.1 The cosmetologists working in American Care salons must be currently licensed in Florida pursuant to [477.0265(1)(a), F.S.][476.194(1)(a), F.S.].
6.3.2 The cosmetologist’s license shall be conspicuously displayed in the salon with a recent photograph, permanently laminated.
6.3.3 No one other than a cosmetologist with a valid and active Florida cosmetologist license is permitted to perform cosmetology services in
American Care salons.
