Two bird’s one stone
Community service and sporting event all in one session. Community service participation for this paper was being the ball boy for Shepherd University football team. I stood on Shepherds sideline throwing in balls to the referee when needed along the side of one of my old friends I played football against in high school. The sporting event went by slow. Our college football team isn’t all that great so Shepherd was putting the smack down on the Wesleyan Bobcats. Our starting quarter back was out with a concussion, the other two quarter backs are freshmen. The first freshman That started for Wesleyan seemed scared. He didn’t last long before he took a good hit and didn’t return. The next freshmen was up to shine. He did his job. No interceptions, completed over most of his passes but our running game kept us backed up. He put multiple pass completions together to drive the ball down the field for our only score of the game.
Wesleyans defense only forced Shepherd to punt the football three times the whole game. You could tell that freshmen were playing in the starting defense lineup. They laid down from the start. Waiting on the ball carrier to come to them so they could make the tackle. The cornerbacks did that a lot. That’s no how the game is supposed to be played. If you’re a defensive player you attack that ball. Go get hard after who has it or where it’s going to be coming down if it’s a pass. We did none of that. Wesleyans program right now needs
