GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR LAB EXPERIENCE
Laboratory activities are important as preparation for your hospital experience. To gain the most from these days it is imperative that you are well prepared with background knowledge through reading and completing all pre-lab activities.
Prior to scheduled lab:
Read and view all required readings and videos
Complete the study guides in the lab manual
Your knowledge of this material will be tested in exams and clinical application.
Lab attendance is compulsory, so you must not schedule other activities or appointments during your lab day.
The lab day is 0830 - 1600 h. Late arrival is considered unprofessional; presentations (lectures, videos, etc.) must not be interrupted. Latecomers will need to wait outside the lab until a suitable moment for entry is indicated by the teacher.
Bring to each lab:
Lab manual
Completed written preparation for the lab
Specified items as identified with the lab e.g. stethoscope.
Wear: Comfortable clothing
Flat shoes
No jewellery - other than that which is acceptable in the hospital, such as a watch with second hand, wedding ring, simple earrings.
No perfume. The lab is a scent-free environment.
Note: a pharm test will take place as per 212 schedule.
Completion of all lab requirements is a PREREQUISITE for attending clinical.MISSED LABS
