100 Years of Imperialism Imperialism among nations is still widely practiced, abused, and demonstrated in our world most often for the potential of economic, political, social, cultural, and territorial gains. Imperialism, which is the policy of extending a country’s power and influence by utilizing diplomacy or military force, “...usually in the form of an empire, based on ideas of superiority, practices of dominance, and involving the extension of authority and control of one state or people over another.”(6) This seems to have already proven itself to be an inevitable aspect of the evolution of our human kind, but more importantly and more noticeably throughout neighboring, opposing, and resembling nations across the globe. A few examples such as Adolf Hitler’s rise of Nazi Germany, Barrack Obama’s attempted plans to attack Syria, and George Bush’s decision to invade Iraq in hopes to recover and eliminate weapons of mass destruction, while reestablishing and rebuilding the Iraqi’s central government can all be associated with the term imperialism while providing an fair picture of how imperialism can so easily be implemented into foreign nations.

Adolf Hitler is one of, if not the most, revolutionary example of imperialism in our world’s history due to his extreme beliefs of a creating the perfect race, exterminating the Jewish race, and his ability to achieve the trust of grand audiences with his exceptional persuasive speaking ability. By understanding and contorting the law Hitler achieved sole political control and completely reorganized the German judiciary, all while under a blanket of legitimacy. (1) Hitler precisely executed various aspects of imperialism by implementing the need and want for religious, political, and social changes. Leading up to the elections of 1932, Hitler and the Nazi party organized the “Hitler Over Germany” campaign in which he spoke out to 50 cities in a matter of 15 days. The Nazi campaign leaders have been said to be exceptionally creative in their ability to produce a variety of platforms dependent upon the needs and fears of the targeted social group, and audiences. Hitler repeated promised the rebirth and resurgence of past Germany. One of the most amazing facts of Adolf Hitler’s reign of Germany and the Nazi party is that Hitler was able to accomplish the feats not through illegal force, but through specific regulations and legal statues.(3) Legally Adolf Hitler was accomplished one of the most horrific, well-known, and grievous imperialistic acts of the earth’s history of existence. Additionally in recent months, Barrack Obama has stated that he wants to invade Syria, which many people and politicians believe to be absurd and blasphemous. When a chemical weapons attack was ordered and executed in Syria, President Barrack Obama caught the world’s attention while generating a vast amount of controversy and questions when he became enormously close to launching an attack at the Syrian forces. David North, author and national chairman of the Socialist Equality Party in the United States, believes that the chemical weapons instance was a pretext for a military invasion of Syria, which may have been a suggested action during a meeting with John Kerry and the leaders of Syrian opposition, July 25th, 2013. The latest Iraq-Afghanistan war has many imperialistic implications which have formed a wide range of opinions as to what our specific goal and purpose of invasion has been for nearly 10 years. On March 19th, 2003, President George W. Bush began his address to our nation and the world by stating, “My fellow citizens. At this hour, American and coalition forces are in the early stages of military operations to disarm Iraq, to free its people and to defend the world from grave danger.” In the same speech, President Bush later stated that their purpose of the operations and other plans
