What is the shape?
The Gresham Barlow Web Academy is looking for a location for its new school site. Currently they are looking at a site that if placed on a coordinate plane would have vertices at; (2,2), (-5, -3), (-12, 2), and (-5,7). What is the most precise name for the shape of the site that the new school would be built on?
What i did first was plot down my coordinate points that were given to me.
After i correctly plotted my points i connected them. I focused on the new image that was created by the connecting lines. Last year i took geometry so i was sure that this shape was a diamond. I also know that another name for a diamond is rhombus. A diamond and a rhombus are both parallelograms.
To make sure that i was certain that this was a diamond/rhombus i looked up the definition on http://www.mathsisfun.com/definitions/rhombus.html . The definition said” A 4-sided flat shape with straight sides where all sides have equal length”. I looked back at my paper and checked.
Is it four sided?
Yes
Do all sides have equal lengths?
Not sure
What i did next to prove that all sides have equal lengths i went on khan academy and watched this link https://www.khanacademy.org/math/geometry/quadrilaterals-and-polygons/quadrilaterals/v/proof-rhombus-diagonals-are-perpendicular-bisectors .
After i watched this video i edited my drawing a little bit more
Basically what all my arrows mean is:
1 arrow= line D,A is equal to line C,B
2 arrows= line A,B is equal to
